Brazilian steel imports surge over January-April
Brazilian steel imports continue to surge in 2017, according to data issued by local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil. Exports also grew over the January-April period, but more modestly, Kallanish notes.
Steel imports grew to 790,000 tonnes in first four months of 2017, 64.6% more than in the same period of 2016. Of this total, flat steel imports were 430,000t, an increase of 113% year-on-year.
