Brazil's steel imports jump in January
Brazilian finished steel imports rose sharply in January, according to data from local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB), monitored by Kallanish. Meanwhile, exports remained weak.
Steel imports increased by 42.3% compared to January 2020 to 324,474 tonnes. This volume was also 59% higher on-month.
Flat steel was the most demanded with arrivals at 188,256t, up 41.1% year-on-year, while long steel imports were 53,292t, down 11.3%…
