Brazil pig iron prices decline, January exports down
Brazilian pig iron export prices dropped ahead of the Chinese New Year holidays, Kallanish notes. According to market participants, demand has fallen in February, which has pushed domestic levels down by almost $40-50/tonne on-month.
Sources say local producers have their order books full until May, while pig iron availability in the Brazilian market remains low. Pig iron export prices stand currently at $480-490/t fob Brazil.
