Brazil's May flats sales grow, outlook negative
Flat steel sales from Brazil’s distributors and service centres rose sequentially in May, Kallanish notes. Shipments in June, however, are expected to decrease by 5% month-on-month. National steel distributors’ association Inda meanwhile sees purchases falling by 10% after a strong May.
In May, distributors’ sales totalled 312,000 tonnes, up 3.1% over the previous month but 2.6% lower compared to 320,300t a year earlier.
