Brazil’s March steel production recovers sequentially, except semis
Brazil saw steel production and consumption rise on-month in March, Kallanish notes. The sector’s performance, however, remained weaker on-year.
Local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB)’s latest report shows that Brazil’s monthly crude steel output was 2.73 million tonnes, up 7.9% over February but 8.7% less year-on-year. Three-month production remained 6.8% lower on-year at 8.04mt.
