Brazil’s June steel trade surplus narrows
Brazil remained a net exporter of steel in June. The country’s trade surplus was almost 219,454 tonnes in the month, compared with 393,698t in May and 805,902t in the same month in 2023, Kallanish notes.
The trade surplus for the first six months of 2024 reached 1.92 million tonnes, compared with 4.02mt in January-June 2023. The reduction is mainly driven by 25.2% weaker exports.
