Brazil's June pig iron production grows, exports fall
Brazilian pig iron production rose month-on-month and year-on-year in June. Exports, however, decreased, Kallanish notes.
According to data from the local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB), May’s pig iron output was 2.28 million tonnes, an increase of 166,000t or 7.8% m-o-m. This volume was 11.3% higher year-on-year, IAB data show. Production in the first six months of 2024 amounted to 12.96mt or 1.5% more y-o-y.
