Brazilian steel imports/exports grow, but domestic sales stall
Brazilian steel imports and exports increased in the first quarter this year, while local sales were slightly down, Kallanish learns from data issued by local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil.
Steel imports reached 637,000 tonnes in Q1 2017, 73.1% more than in the same period of 2016. The value of these was $524 million, an increase of 37.9% year-on-year, the institute says.
