Brazilian court suspends permits for upstream dams
The 3rd Court of Public Finance of Belo Horizonte district in Brazil’s Minas Gerais state has suspended the granting or renewal of all environmental licences for tailing dams built by the upstream method.
In a note issued by the Minas Gerais Public Prosecutor's Office (MPMG), the authority did not disclose how many such applications are affected by the suspension. The MPMG had filed a Public Civil Action (ACP) on 4 November 2016, Kallanish notes.
