Brazilian authorities ban upstream dams
The Brazilian national mining agency, ANM, has ordered the permanent closure of all mining dams built using the upstream method in the country. The authority has also banned the further construction of such dams, according to the its resolution published in the country`s Official Gazette, monitored by Kallanish. This measure follows the rupture of Dam 1 at Vale`s Córrego do Feijão mine in Brumadinho on 25 January.
