Brazilian steel production and consumption fall in 2019
Brazilian steel production and apparent steel consumption both fell during 2019, Kallanish learns from data issued by the local steelmakers’ association Instituto Aço Brasil (IAB).
Crude steel output totalled 32,236,000 tonnes during the last year. This represented a fall of -9.0% compared to 2018. In December alone, crude steel production was -10.8% down year-on-year to 2.416 million tonnes.
