Black Sea billet market remains in standstill
The CIS billet export market remains in a lull, with offers and bids around $20-25/tonne apart in the Mediterranean region, and by more in the Middle East and North Africa.
Buyers are biding their time as scrap prices continue to slowly erode in Turkey. Sellers are meanwhile pushing for higher prices, especially from Russia, where the 15% export duty for a minimal fiscal value of $115/t became applicable from 1 August, Kallanish notes.
