Big River melt shop comes online
Arkansas’ Big River Steel has commissioned its melt shop and hot mill, Kallanish reports.
The company celebrated the commissioning of its 1.6 million short ton/year steelmaking complex with a ceremonial $100,000 purchase of its inaugural coil by Zekelman Industries, with the proceeds going to charity. The coil will be sent to Zekelman’s Atlas Tube facility in Blytheville, Arkansas.
Kallanish currently puts hot-rolled coil at $590-610/short ton.
