BHP profit drops but China, India demand positive
BHP has reported a fall in profit for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2023 (FY23), despite annual production of most products edging higher during the period, Kallanish notes.
In FY23, BHP produced 257 million tonnes of iron ore, up 1% on-year. The average realised price, however, slumped 18% to $92.54/wet metric tonne, dragging down the Ebitda margin from 91% to 67%.
