Benelux scrap slides on export pressure
Scrap prices in the Benelux decreased last week despite a firm EU domestic market. This was mostly the result of weak demand in export markets.
Turkish mills have received numerous scrap import offers after resuming purchases the previous week. US suppliers, who were offering HMS 1&2 80:20 at $507-510/tonne cfr levels, failed to realise these quotes due to the large number of offers, which have increased the pressure on prices.
