Baotou set to restart No.1 blast furnace
Northern China’s Baotou Iron & Steel (Baotou) plans to begin production from its No.1 blast furnace by the end of April, according to the company. The restart comes after surging prices have extended steelmaking margins, Kallanish notes.
The No.1 blast furnace (BF) has a volume of 2,200 cubic metres with production of 1.87 million tonnes/year. Baotou began preparing the furnace on 31 March and expects preparation to take around 20 days.
