Baosteel confirms multi-billion steel business losses in 2015
China’s Baosteel saw its non-steel business compensate for losses made by its steel operations in 2015, the steelmaker discloses in its social responsibility report for 2015 monitored by Kallanish.
Baosteel reported losses in its steel business in 2015 of CNY 8.6 billion ($1.29 billion). The steelmaker however posted total profits of CNY 1.03 billion for 2015 which suggests that its non-steel business achieved gains of around CNY 10 billion in the year.
