Baosteel to eliminate 9.2m t/y of steel capacity
China’s Baosteel has announced that it will eliminate 9.2 million tonnes/year of steelmaking capacity by the end of 2018 to further China’s aim to cut steel capacity nationally. It will also commission a similar amount of capacity over the same period, but the closures mean capacity will see a significant geographical shift, Kallanish notes.
