Baosteel commissions Danieli slab grinder
China’s Baosteel has completed testing on a new slab grinding and inspection line in June, according to the equipment supplier Danieli. The plant reduces yield loss and boosts efficiency, Kallanish notes.
The plant can handle 1.2 million tonnes/year of slabs at 600-800 degrees centigrade prior to rolling. The process can achieve the same results with the removal of just 1.5-2.1% of material, compared to 3-4% for other processes. This is due to the advanced…
