Baogang begins China’s first CCUS project construction
Baotou Steel (Baogang) Group has broken ground on the first phase of its carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) project. It is the steel industry’s first CCUS demonstration project in China, Kallanish notes.
Phase I will cost a total investment of CNY 614 million ($92m) and have a capture capacity of 500,000 tonnes/year of carbon dioxide. The next two steps will add 500,000 t/y and 1 million t/y capacity respectively.
