Baicheng Fuda to build new electric arc furnace
Baicheng Fuda Bar Rolling Company plans to carry out a steelmaking capacity replacement project from December this year, according to the plan submitted to the Industry and Information Technology Department of Jilin.
One 105-tonne electric arc furnace will replace its existing two 40t EAFs, Kallanish notes. As EAFs are encouraged by the Chinese government as eco-friendly equipment, the project will result in no net capacity reduction at the company.
