Automotive steel demand surges through summer

China’s automotive sector saw a smaller than usual decline in production in hot July, pushing its year-on-year growth figures even higher. The sector has been one of the few bright spots for end user steel demand this year, with implied demand now up over 9% year-on-year, Kallanish calculates.
