ATI to close Midland, Bagdad to cut losses
Specialty steel and metals producer Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI) will continue to trim its exposure to the commodity stainless and grain-oriented steel market to protect its bottom line, Kallanish learns from the company’s third-quarter earnings review.
ATI posted a net loss of $531 million on sales of $771m, primarily due to a $471m impairment charged linked to the idling of its Rowley, Utah, titanium sponge facility.
