Asia decline keeps nine-month global iron output down
The decline in Asian pig iron production in September prevented global nine-month output from catching up with 2019 volumes, but the depth of the decline narrowed, Kallanish notes from worldsteel data.
The world produced 109 million tonnes of pig iron in September, -3.35% down on-month but 1.6% up on-year. The 966.9mt produced in January-September was -2.1% down on-year, as compared to a -2.6% decline in January-August.
