ASEAN wire rod import market weakens further
The ASEAN import market for low-carbon wire rod has weakened slightly this week, Kallanish notes. Buyers are generally inactive because of the recent volatility in Chinese steel futures.
Chinese-origin 6.5mm-diameter low-carbon wire rod from Tangshan for August shipment was offered at $530-535/tonne cfr Manila compared to $535/t cfr a week ago. Buying interest is thin. “The market is too unstable for customers to decide [to buy],” a Manila trader says.…
