Asean steel demand surges through H1
Apparent steel consumption in the Asean-6 nations increased 19.3% year-on-year to 39.28 million tonnes in the first half of 2016, according to the Southeast Asian Iron and Steel Institute (Seaisi). Growth continued to be led by Vietnam and the Philippines, while China remained by far the largest supplier, Kallanish notes.
