ArcelorMittal to idle Krakow hot-end on imports, costs
ArcelorMittal Poland (AMP) will temporarily idle its blast furnace and converter operations in Krakow due to increased volumes of imports and high electricity prices in Poland.
The move is part of ArcelorMittal’s decision to reduce flat steel production in Europe by around 3 million tonnes/year due to weakening demand, rising imports and higher production costs (see separate story).
