US April steel imports stumble
Total and finished steel imports appear to have dropped in April, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing data from the US Department of Commerce, AISI puts total steel import applications in April at 2.449 million short tons. That total is down -5% from March’s preliminary import tally.
April’s finished steel import permit tonnage was 2.047m, down -2% from March’s preliminary tally.
