US import permits rise in April
April US steel import applications are up dramatically over March’s final tallies, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing Commerce Department data, the institute puts April import permit applications at 2.894 million short tons – up 27.4% from the final March tonnage of 2.271m st.
Finished steel import permit tonnage for April is at 1.983m st, up 6.6% from March’s final total.
