April global crude steel output dips slightly on-year
The World Steel Association (worldsteel) says that global crude steel output was 135 million tonnes in April 2016, a -0.5% decrease compared to April 2015, Kallanish notes.
China produced 69.4mt in the month, an increase of 0.5% on April 2015. This is 51.4% of world output and signals that capacity reductions being implemented are having minimal effect on production.
