Antam to boost ferronickel output further
Indonesia’s PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) had produced around 20,800 tonnes of ferronickel by the end of 2016, according to preliminary reports, up from an original target of 18,500t. In 2017, it hopes to boost that figure to 24,000t, Kallanish notes.
Antam has also been investing in nickel pig iron capacity in order to boost its sales to the Chinese market. It currently sells ferronickel largely to European and Korean consumers. A $259 million smelter project …
