Turkish imported scrap prices increase sharply again
Turkish imported scrap prices saw another sharp increase on Monday, Kallanish notes.
A Turkish steelmaker in the south bought an EU-origin cargo at $243/tonne cfr Turkey average price. Although the breakdown of the cargo is yet to be confirmed, the buyer declared the HMS 75:25 price equivalent to be at $235/t cfr.
There have been limited scrap deals recently, with Baltic-origin HMS 1&2 80:20 sold at $206-207/t cfr two weeks ago and Russian-origin HMS 90:10 so…
