Turkey sees another leap in scrap prices
Turkish mills are seen facing a sharp increase in imported scrap offers this week. This is mostly the result of the significant hike in freight rates and scrap supply shortages in major scrap provider regions.
Following the US-origin scrap booking at $440/tonne for shredded and $445/t cfr Turkey for bonus grade, US suppliers are targeting much higher prices. Most have even withdrawn offers in order to first secure material.
