Amurstal EAF overhaul to hike output, reduce costs

Russian Far Eastern steelmaker Amurstal has begun a planned annual overhaul of the electric arc furnace, which will reduce operational costs and help increase finished steel output, the company says. The firm plans, among other things, to replace the inclined EAF gas duct, wall panels in the dust-collecting chamber, and repair the racks of the EAF electrode holders.
