AMSA idles blast furnace, EAF on reduced demand
ArcelorMittal South Africa (AMSA) has decided to idle blast furnace C at the Vanderbijlpark works and the Vereeniging electric arc furnace until demand recovers.
This comes as the firm’s customers returned to unrestricted operations from June but are largely operating on reduced shift patterns as the economy continues to grapple with the Covid-19 pandemic.
