Ampco suffers profit erosion in first quarter
US steel mill roll provider Ampco-Pittsburgh saw a dip in profits in the first quarter, though its demand in its core business segments remains healthy, Kallanish understands.
Ampco earned $900,000 on sales of $115.1 million in the first quarter, down from a gain of $4.8m on sales of $103.5m in Q1 2017.
The company attributes this to higher raw material pricing, higher operating costs, and a partial plant idling.
