Malaysian authorities investigate Alliance Steel for water theft
Malaysia’s new long product steelmaker Alliance Steel (M) is reportedly being investigated for stealing water. The move saw all water supply to the plant cut off since 16 May, Kallanish notes.
Reports suggest that the steelworks built its water infrastructure without an additional approval from the National Water Services Commission. The commission alleges that the value of water illegally used by the site is at least MYR 500,000 ($125,739/t).
