Alacero foresees LatAm steel consumption slowing in 2022
Inflation, rising interest rates and political uncertainty could hinder the Latin American steel market recovery this year. After regional apparent steel consumption (ASC) rose by 26.6% year-on-year in 2021 to 74.76 million tonnes, demand is expected to reduce by almost 2.1% in 2022, according to regional steelmakers’ association Alacero executive director Alejandro Wagner.
