Higher prices, demand boost Jazeera Steel's first-half performance
Oman-based re-roller Al Jazeera Steel (AJS)’s consolidated sales grew 27% on-year in the first half of 2021 to 200,663 tonnes, whereas production increased by 21% to 200,732t, Kallanish notes.
Revenue grew by 75% to OMR 66.3 million ($172.5m) in H1, from OMR 37.8m a year earlier.
AJS posted H1 net profit of OMR 4.5m, ballooning from a year-earlier net profit of only OMR 105,834, while cash flow of OMR 6.3m was realised.
