AISI tracks big import drop in May
US imports fell by double-digit percentages from May 2017 to May 2018, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Citing Census Bureau Data, the institute puts May total imports at 2.887 million short tons and finished imports at 2.418m st - down 23.2% and 16%, respectively, from May 2017.
Year-to-date total imports are at 15.342m st, 12.132m st of which are finished. Those figures are also down 2.7% and 0.4%, respectively.
