AISI: Steel shipments rise in January
US steel mill shipments ticked up from December to January but remain down year-on-year, Kallanish learns from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
US steel shipments totalled around 7.03 million short tons in January, up 7.2% from the roughly 6.6m st shipped in December, AISI says. In terms of product, shipments of hot-dipped galvanized sheets rose 13%, cold-rolled sheets, 12%, and hot-rolled sheets, 2%, all month-on-month.
