Two major domestic steel organisations are extending their congratulations to Nucor ceo John Ferriola on his impending retirement from the company after 28 years of service, Kallanish reports.

“AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) congratulates John Ferriola on his retirement,” says AISI ceo Tom Gibson. “He is a force in the steel industry and his thoughtful leadership and energetic commitment to the industry has been tremendous. As a former, two-term board chairman of AISI, he has been a source of inspiration for all of us in the industry.”

Gibson adds that he looks forward to working with Ferriola’s successor – Leon Topalian – when Ferriola formerly retires at the end of the year.

The Steel Manufactueres Association (SMA) echoed Gibson’s sentiments.

“John’s contributions to the steel industry are extremely relevant and have positioned Nucor as a 21st century steelmaker and a global leader,” says SMA president Philip Bell. “John’s contributions to steelmaking have left an indelible mark on the industry.”
