AISI: US January imports rise by 10%
Total US steel imports climbed 10% from December to January, due largely to big increases in tubular products, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reports.
Citing preliminary data from the US Census Bureau, the AISI puts total January imports at 2.577 million short tons. Finished steel imports likewise rose 8.8% to 2.217m st, putting finished steel import market share at 26%.
