Steel imports dropped hard in February says AISI
US imports posted big month-on-month and year-to-date drops in February, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
Citing preliminary Census Bureau data, the AISI reports that total US imports fell -16.5% from January to February, reaching 2.212 million short tons. Finished steel imports likewise fell -6.7% on-month to 2.079m st, Kallanish notes.
