AISI: US February imports drop sharply
US total and finished steel imports plunged by double-digits in February, according to the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
Citing data from the US Department of Commerce, the AISI reports total steel import applications fell -11% from January’s preliminary total to 2.283 million short tons. Finished steel import applications likewise fell -16% from January’s preliminary tally to 1.854m st, Kallanish notes.
