US August imports trend down from last year says AIIS
Year-to-date import levels have fallen behind last year’s equivalent total, according to the American Institute for International Steel (AIIS).
Citing US Census Bureau data, the AIIS reports total imports were 3.02 million short tons in August, down -8.2% from July and -18.5% from August 2014. Year-to-date, imports totalled 28.02m st in August, down -2.2% year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
