AIIS: March US import growth signals expanding economy
US steel imports appear to be on the rise, but remain far below their prior-year levels, according to the American Institute for International Steel (AIIS).
Steel imports rose 12.8% from February to March to 2.57 million short tons. This was down -28.4% year-on-year, Kallanish notes.
Imports from Brazil doubled to 342,000st, but likewise remain down -7.6% from March 2015. Canadian imports remained roughly level at 456,000st, but are down -13.9% from last year…
