Afarak shifts to high-carbon ferrochrome to improve margins
Finnish-headquartered Afarak Group is shifting production at its South Africa-based Mogale plant from charge chrome to high-carbon ferrochrome which will achieve higher margins on the market. This is part of a turnaround strategy the firm has introduced following a difficult 2018 on account of mining disruptions, reduced ferrochrome prices and increased production costs.
