Worldsteel sees 'restrained' 0.5% finished steel use growth in 2015 on China slowdown
The World Steel Association forecasts global apparent consumption on a finished steel basis to rise 0.5% year-on-year in 2015 to 1.54 billion tonnes. Growth is then seen accelerating to 1.4% in 2016 to 1.57mt. In 2014 this growth was 0.6%.
The fastest growth in 2015 is expected in Africa, which should see finished steel use increase by 7.4% to 39.6 million t. The Middle East, meanwhile, is forecast to see 2.8% growth to 53.3mt. EU steel use is seen grow…
