Vietnam’s Ton Dong A (TDA) has commissioned three hot dip galvanising lines with a combined capacity of 200,000 tonnes/year in Song Than Industrial Park north of Ho Chi Minh City, according to local reports. The line was built by China-based Japanese joint venture CN Steel Plant.

The lines can coat coil 0.16-1.5mm thick and 750-1,250mm wide. The facilities include cleaning, annealing, galvanising, a finishing tension leveller and chemical treatment, the company says.

TDA produces around 250,000 t/y of galvanised and coated sheets for construction and the new line will also produce construction materials, Kallanish understands.

CN Steel Plant is 51% owned by Japan’s Nippon Steel and Sumikin Engineering and is based in the south-western Chinese city of Chongqing. The remaining 49% is owned by CISDI Group, which is majority owned by China Metallurgical Group.
